Alex Stevens | Co-Founder Golf and Sport Performance Center Alex graduated from The University of Richmond in 1999 receiving a BS in Sports Science with a concentration in human movement. He moved to Jackson, Wyoming soon after to manage the personal training duties at Lost Creek Guest Ranch in the spring of 1999. Alex spent his first winter teaching skiing at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and took a position as a full time personal trainer at One to One Wellness in the spring of 2000. Both positions he would hold for the next seven years. It was in 2001 that Alex was first introduced to the concept of Sport Specific Training as it is applied to the game of golf. At the C.H.E.K. Institute in San Diego, Ca, Alex attended his first golf specific training seminar earning his credential as a C.H.E.K. Certified Golf Biomechanic. Over the next several years Alex combined his background and training history as a scholarship athlete with the relatively new concepts of Golf Specific Training. This style of work, meshed with stretching techniques developed by Aaron Mattes, labeled as Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) quickly blossomed into outstanding results with his golf specific clients. This fueled the desire to acquire more information and a deeper understanding of what world class golfers were doing off the course to improve their game. In March of 2005 Alex and to be business partner Greg Dennis attended the first annual Golf Fitness Summit in Orlando, Florida, introducing the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI). It was at this summit that bells started ringing from every direction. The TPI was on the cutting edge of golf specific, dedicated training that had been applied to all other sports for so many years. TPI had, and continues to, develop the most progressive and comprehensive systems for getting the most out of a golfer's performance at all levels. Since that revolutionary introduction in ’05 Alex and Greg have both been at the front of the continuing education curve in the Golf Fitness world. Alex and Greg are both on pace to receive their Level 3 Certifications in October of 2007 as Fitness and Teaching professionals respectively. This will be the very first TPI Level 3 course offering. Currently, Alex is spending his work days with athletes optimizing their performance in a variety of sports ranging from triathletes, collegiate soccer players and high school athletes, to mountaineers, professional snowboarders, and of course golfers. Today, Alex and wife Krista enjoy the casual day to day lifestyle that Jackson Hole has to offer. Days filled with skiing, biking, trail running, kayaking and camping are some of the activities they enjoy. Alex spends most of his winter days playing in the snow. Summer is typically spent waiting for winter, killing time with a recently acquired triathalon habit sandwiched between rounds of golf. |
